We recommend using Pigment Primer any time you plan on applying a pigmented masque. Using Pigment Primer can ensure more even results and avoid patchy areas of pigment absorption.

You'll notice that it's easier to apply pigment and easier to comb through your strands because of the added slip the Pigment Primer offers. You'll also get more even color results with increased manageability after your application.

How does Pigment Primer work?
Uneven porosity in the hair can affect how the hair dye in our pigmented masque or any direct dyes attach to your hair. Lightly porous areas can grab too much pigment, while overly porous areas can struggle to hold onto it. This means a strand of hair can have more vibrant areas and areas where the color doesn't show as well. The Pigment Primer fills in these areas to make sure the pigment adheres evenly from root to tip.
